Memphis-area home sales for September decreased 2.3
percent from a year ago, with 1,606 total sales recorded in the Memphis Area Association
of REALTORS® MAARdata property records database. Sales were down 17.3 percent from
August when there were 1,942 total sales. Average sales price from September-to-September
was up 8.9 percent, at $179,936. Inventory decreased 1.8 percent, with 4,627 units listed for
sale. Year-to-Date sales volume was up 12.9 percent at $2.53 billion.
“After the highest sales total of the year in August, it was natural to see sales
gravitate downward a bit,” said MAAR President Tommie Criswell. “Sales volume for
the year is very healthy, almost 13 percent ahead of 2016.”
